Company History
Walter Boswell grew up in New Kent County and lived on a farm where he learned how to do all types of service Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical he was very well liked in the county; he was appointed Sheriff of New Kent County at the death of his father, he was 21 years old the youngest sheriff in the state. He was reelected for two more terms. Then served several years as Peninsula's first Parole Officer.

In 1946 Walter Boswell started Boswell Plumbing & Heating. His first invoice was for $3.00 this being back when people worked for $35.00 a month. He did Commercial and Residential work and his company began to grow and he hired more people as needed. He became one of the first residential heating and air conditioning contractors in town.

In 1975 Walter hired Richard Hibbard as an apprentice and taught him everything he knew for 5 ½ years. Richard under the guidance of Mr. Boswell earned his Master's License in Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Gas Pipe Fitter and Liquified Petroleum Gas as well as Master Gas Fitter.

In 1980 Mr. Boswell was turning 65 years old and he sold the company to Richard Hibbard and then worked for him for 10 years before he finally retired. Richard Hibbard and his associates still carry the Boswell name and serve the Williamsburg area with prompt, efficient, and trustworthy service.

Since 1946 Boswell Plumbing & Heating is proud to say we are the oldest plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical service company in the city, and we look forward to serving you in the near future.
